About the author, Alison Hunt

The book arose from the author’s intention to write letters to her daughters about how to invest when they inherit or otherwise have the good luck to have money to invest. However, it quickly seemed a better idea to write this concise 100-page book.

The author has invested her own money for 30 years. She started during the dot.com craze for tech shares investing £3,000 in a tech fund and losing two thirds of it. Since that early mistake, she has learned how to use the stock market to grow her money, building up knowledge from sources such as financial pages, specialist share journals, and online research, as well as through trial and error, and constant monitoring of her investments.

Her educational and professional background includes qualifying as a Legal Executive and working in a law firm for 20 years. She was also a pension fund trustee involved with the investment of the pension scheme funds, and a Resolution Adviser for the Pensions Ombudsman.
